The following article appeared in the Winnipeg, Manitoba The Winnipeg Tribune, 20 July 1929 :
A wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Mayhew, Foxwarren, Man., July 16th at 10 a.m. when their youngest daughter, Ethel Louise, was united in marriage ot Jas. Laycock, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Laycock of Foxwarren. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. M. Murc[hison] of Ft. Qu'Appelle, uncle of the groom, and took place under an arch decorated with white crepe streamers, bells and orange blossoms and banked with peonies and ferns. The bride entered the room with her father to the strains of the "Bridal Chorus" played by her sister, Mrs. E. McCredie.
The bride wore white georgette with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of Ophelia bridal roses with lily of the valley and maiden hair fern. She was attended by Miss Irene Hay who wore castilian red georgette, and carried cream roses and ferns. The groom was attended by his brother, Walter Laycock.
After signing the register, the company partook of a wedding breakfast, the table being centered with the bride's cake and decorated with white streamers and bells.
A toast to the bride was given by Rev. J. M. Murchison, and responded to by the groom.
The bride's travelling costume was a smart tweed suit, opening over a figured blouse, with hat to match. She wore a brown fox fur, the gift of her father.
