ISAAC S. NOWLIN DIES IN WAPELLA

     ... CLINTON. Sept. 4 — Isaac Swisher Nowlin, one of the prominent residents of the county and of Wapella township died in his home near Wapella this morning at 4 o'clock; after an illness of live weeks, of cancer of the stomach. Although the lasi illness was brief.Mr. Nowlin had suffered poor health twenty years.
     Mr. Nowlin born In DeWitt county near DeWitt September 22, 1850. He followed the occupation or farming DeWitt and Farmer City until three years , when he and his family moved to their present home near Wapella. In 1878 he was married to Flora Elizabeth Kirby and besides his mother he leaves eight children, L. J.. Nowlin of Wapella, Ray Nowlin of Clinton. Mrs. William Nance of Wapella, Mrs. Urick Jacobson of Bowman, North Dakota, Thomas and Eunice at home and Mrs. John Sutton, a sister, of Butler, Mo. Mr.- Nowlin became a member of the Free Methodist church shortly before his death.
     Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist churcn of Clinton, burial in Woodlawn cemetery.3


     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Clinton Register published in Clinton, Illinois 6 September 1912:
FORMER RESIDENT DIES
     Isaac NOWLIN, a respected resident of Wapella township and formerly a resident of this city died Wednesday morning at his home at 4 o'clock. Mr. Nowlin had been sick for about five years and his death was due to cancer of the stomach. The deceased was born near DeWitt, September 22, 1850, and followed the occupation of farming in the vicinity of DeWitt and Farmer City. He was united in marriage to Flora Elizabeth KIRBY in May, 1878, and he is survived by his wife and eight children: L. J., H. G., N. L., of Wapella; Ray, of Clinton; Mrs. William NANCE, of Wapella; Mrs. Urick JACOBSON, of Bowman, S. D; and Thomas and Eunice, at home. A sister, Mrs. John SUTTON, of Butler, Mo., also survives. The funeral was held today at 2 p.m. from the Free Methodist church in this city. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery.4
