     Duncan Dewar began military service on 20 February 1915 at the age of 29 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was a carpenter, and had spent 3 years in the Scottish Horse.3 He was killed in action between 2 June 1916 and 5 June 1916 at Sanctuary Wood, West Flanders, Belgium. He was missing after action in the vicinity of Sanctuary Wood, about 2 miles east of Ypres from June 2nd to 5th, 1916 and was later presumed to have died "on or since" the former date. He was serving with the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles
