Survived by his parents, two brothers and four sisters -- James, of Kenora; David, at home; Mrs. Lockwood, of Bothwell, and Margaret, Sadie and Annie, at home.5

The following newspaper article appeared in the Windsor, Ontario Windsor Star 7 January 1910 :
C. P. R. EMPLOYE (sic) MET HORRIBLE DEATH
Wm S. McRoberts Struck by Engine and Cut in Twain Near Round House.
DEATH WAS INSTANTANEOUS.
Unfortunate Man Did not see or Hear Approach of Locomotive.

William S. McRoberts, employed as a carpenter on the bridge gand (sic) of the C. P. R, was cut in twain at 6 o'clock Thursday night while walking on the C. P. R. track opposite the coal chute, near the company's roundhouse. He was a single man and made his home with his parents in Kingsville. Death was instantaneous. The unfortunate man had just quit his day's work and was walking on the tracks, bearing some letters to his mechanical foreman, Thomas Millen. Engine No. 143 had just taken passenger train No. 5 into the station and was backing down the track to the round-house. In some unaccountable manner McRoberts did not see or hear the approach of the train. A freight train on another track in the near vicinity also helped to edtract (sic) his attention from the oncoming engine. The engine struck the man, throwing his body under the wheels, where it was dragged 100 feet before it was discovered. Coroner LaBelle was immediately notified and after viewing the remains and examining Engineer George Burr and Fireman Alexander Gressick, in charge of the locomotive at the time of the accident, deemed an inquest unnecessary. The body was removed to Tuson's morgue and was taken to Kingsville, where his father resides, Friday afternoon.4

R. S. Lockwood, 74, passed away at his home at Central Butte on April 17, after an illness of several months. He was the son of George and Aurelia Lockwood, farmers, and was born in Carodoc Township, Ont. He received his education in Ontario and taught school in the United Stated for two years.

In 1898, he was married to Miss Melissa Johnston, and they came west in 1912, to farm 5 miles west of Central Butte. He was a Justice of the Peace for many years and held that office until his death, presiding at many interesting trials in Moose Jaw, as well as at home.

He was a charter member and past master of Central Butte Lodge A. F. & A.M., No. 114; a member of Central Butte O.E.S., of Bethlehem White Shrine No. 2, Moose Jaw, and Central Butte United Church. For a number of years he served as president of the local hospital board and as president of the telephone company.

Funeral services were conducted in the church on April 21, by the Rev. Erla Currie. Members of the Eastern Star occupied the places of the regular choir and Central Butte Masonic Lodge attended in a body. Broadfoots of Moose Jaw were in charge of arrangements, and interment was made in Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw, with Rev. G. Clover of St. Andrew's United Church officiating. Masonic rites at the grave site were conducted by Moose Jaw Lodge No. 3 under the direction of W. Bro. Sam Stevens. There were many beautiful floral tributes.

Besides Mrs. Lockwood, a sister Mrs. Kezia Hare, Regina, and a brother, Daniel Lockwood, of Moose Jaw, and nieces and nephews survive.
