Survived by his wife, Lydia Watson. Survivor(s): Margaret Sanford.11

The memorial service was held on Dec 6, 1989 at the Central Memorial Chapel, Edmonton. Military Service

Clarence Mayhew Watson began military service in June 1943 at the age of 30 at HMCS Nonsuch, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve (RCNVR) with the rank of Ordinary Seaman.. Clarence Mayhew Watson ended his military service in June 1946 at HMCS Stadacona, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, with the rank of Stoker I.
End of Military Service section.

He was commonly known as Johnny since Lydia did not like the name Clarence. Eventually most people in her family called him Johnny, thus his grandson's middle name Matthew John Graeme Moffat.10
He appeared on the 1916 Census of Canadian Prairie Provinces, Bengough, RM of Bengough No. 40, Saskatchewan in the household of his parents, George and Jane Watson.7
Clarence Watson appeared in the 1921 Canadian Census of Bengough, RM of Bengough No. 40, Saskatchewan in the household of his parents, George and Jane Watson.6
In the obituary of George Ralph Watson who died 1 July 1944, his son, Clarence Watson of R.C.N.V.R, Halifax, Nova Scotia, was listed as a survivor.13
Clarence M. Watson was described as a Journeyman Carpenter effective on 20 April 1954 at Alberta, Canada. Lyn tells us that his work on construction of Clarke Stadium gave him the experience to qualify for this. Clarke Stadium was built in 1938, but there was work on expanding seating in the early '50's, which corresponds to the time period when he was working there. With his qualification as a Journeyman Carpenter, he was able to secure work at Namao air force base in about 1956.14
In the obituary of Jane Watson who died 30 December 1954, his son, Clarence Watson, was listed as a survivor.15
In the obituary of Ted Watson who died 21 July 1968, his brother, Clarence M. Watson, of Edmonton, was listed as a survivor.16
In the obituary of Walker Watson who died 10 October 1974, his brother, Clarence Watson, of Edmonton, was listed as a survivor.17 He retired on 18 February 1978, after 22 years with "7 CFSD" (Canadian Forces Supply Depot.)18
In the obituary of Charles Wilfred Watson who died 2 February 1986, his brother, Clarence Watson, of Edmonton, AB, was listed as a survivor.19
In the obituary of Caroline Bausmer who died 11 December 1987, her brother-in-law, Johnny Watson, was listed as a survivor.20,21
The following biographical information is from my (Rick Moffat's) personal knowledge or recollections, 2016:
Johnnie's family moved around when he was young. At one time they lived in Shaunavon where his father was the elevator agent. In 2016, Carole and I went into Shaunavon to see a bit of the town while en route to Asquith for the Summach Family Reunion. This was first visit for either of us.
Johnnie served in the Navy during WWII. He married Lydia Watson in Saskatchewan and theylived in Edmonton where he worked for the Wylie's on a fox ranch. In about 1956, he started working for the air force as a carpenter at the Namao base in North east Edmonton. He worked there until his retirement in 1978.
In the 1980's when Barry Fox started to work with Rick Moffat at Celanese, John told of the time he was on an air search and rescue mission with the famed bush pilot Tommy Fox as his pilot. Tommy was Barry's father. John had several snapshots taken from the plane during this search.
John was always a heavy smoker. He started smoking when he was about 12, and suffered from emphysema in his later years. In November 1989 he went into the hospital with respiratory problems. He never left the hospital, dying on Sunday Dec. 3.
He was cremated. The memorial service was held on Dec 6, 1989 at the Central Memorial Chapel. Several years later, Carole, Lydia and Eleanor scattered his ashes at an old Lipton cemetery near the family farm. Siblings of Lydia and Eleanor are also buried there. There is no marker because Lydia did not want one.10

One Man's Family
Liberals and Presbyterians, the Watsons were among the founding members of Duff's Church. Archibald's son, Robert, was only eleven when he first set foot in Canada but he grew to be a fine man in his father's mold. He married Elizabeth Bullock and had children who spread all over the continent: William to Los Angeles; George, Charles and Robert to Manitoba; Albert to Detroit; Mrs. John Nicklin to Aberfoyle; Mrs. John Cummings to Detroit; and Mrs. Adam Howe and Mrs. John Tansley to Chicago. Of all his children, only Frank stayed on the homestead. Both he and his father were to have unfortunate ends.
On a sunny day at the end of July 1904, Robert became the victim of a gruesome accident. With his neighbors he was harvesting his grain in a field by the CPR tracks that ran right through his land. Moving to take more twine to Frank, he crossed the tracks without noticing the on-coming train. It ripped into his 81-year-old body. The scene was seared into the memory of the young neighbor boy, Fred Mast, sitting nearby on a binder. He remembered that the men put sheaves over the body and bore the dreadful burden home
Five months later on Christmas Day, Frank suddenly died of Bright's disease. and his wife Eliza Lewis was left alone as they had no children. But Eliza did have a son by a handfast marriage in Scotland. This son George Lewis, married with two children, moved on to the Watson farm until 1914 when he returned to keep store in Aberfoyle which became an Aberfoyle landmark. Lila Lewis Hayden, the last of his children born on the Watson farm, died at 90 in March of this year.
The Watson/Lewis farm shortly became the Joe Smith farm and today it is the site of a handsome horse training establishment. The house still stands.
Note by Rick Moffat - according to his death registration, Frank died on Dec 15th, 1904.12
