Subject: JANES HOUSE IN NORTHFIELD, MA
Date: Thu, 11 Apr 2002
From: Mary Shell mkshell@lightspeed.net writes:

I have scanned a picture of the home built by Ebenezer JANES in Northfield, MA, in the 1700's. It stood there until 1962, when it was destroyed by fire. (I have visited the site.) Ebenezer Janes was the son of Jonathan Janes (b. 1696), who survived the Indian attack on Pascomuck in 1704, when his father, Samuel, mother and three siblings were killed. Samuel was the son of the first immigrant, William Janes and his second wife. I believe that Jonathan was still alive when Ebenezer built the house. The photo is in the book, "Puritan Outpost," by Herbert C. Parsons, published by The Macmillan Company in 1937. It is a history of Northfield, MA, and is filled with JANES family history. I am descended from that line so I have a particular interest. The reason I am writing to you is because I think some of 'the Janes Gang' might like to see this picture and hear some of the history in Puritan Outpost.

I got the photo down to 109 KBs. So not so bad. Here it is.
