Miriam Janes
F, #910, b. 7 January 1700, d. 13 May 1704
Parents
Biography
Miriam was born on 7 January 1700.
Miriam Janes died on 13 May 1704 in Pascommuck (now Easthampton), Hampshire County, Massachusetts, at age 4. Miriam Janes was killed by Indians at Pascomac, Massachusetts, on 13 May 1704.
Kendall Haywood, the genealogist for the CT Mayflower Society, had proof that Hezekiah [Elmer's] wife was Miriam Janes - that her father's [Benjamin Janes] will establishes that and somewhat modifies the histories that say Miriam was killed with the other children for she was not. The story here is that Miriam's home was attacked by Indians, her mother was scalped but survived, and the children killed, but obviously not Miriam. Her parents were deacon Benjamin Janes & Hannah Edwards???. Find copy of Benjamin Janes' will to verify this.

Elisha Janes, Sr.
M, #920, b. 1715
Parents
Biography
Elisha was born on 1715.
1 He married
Mary Dimock on 23 April 1740.
2,3 Died in Coventry, Tolland County, Connecticut.
Elisha Janes was the youngest son of Benjamin and Hannah (???) Janes. With his son Elisha, Jr., he built a stone house and was always industrious, if not penurious. He died there [Coventry, Tolland County, Connecticut?] amidst his early associations, but some of his children moved away. After the death of Elisha, the family moved to Canaan, New York, where they lived until 1867. The family name is hardly known in Coventry [Tolland County, Connecticut] at the present day [1868] in this ancient town, where so many of the name were born and first breathed their vitality and were thrilled with joyous hopes and flushed with high expectations. We have no particular outline of the character of Elisha or the major part of his children. * * * [Janes, pages 112-113].
