(HI) Nathaniel Searle, son of John and Mary (North) Searle, was born in Northampton May 3, 1686. Nathaniel Searle was the richest settler of Southampton, the only one with a house of two rooms, and his home was used as a meeting place before the church was built. The site of his house, built about 1732 or 1735, may be located by the cellar hole, which is still discernible. He married Priscilla Webb, and he had nine sons.32

Milton Shepard, Sr., was born circa 1827 in New York.1

Milton Shepard, Sr., married Cynthia Paddock, daughter of General Chester B. Paddock and Esther Knight. Note: Cynthia may be Cynthia Paddock, daughter of General Chester B. Paddock who apprently was born about 1803 in NY and later lived with Cynthia in Illinois.1
Note: I have not yet found him in the 1850 census.

Milton Shepard, Sr., and Cynthia Shepard appeared on the census of 1860 in Township 3, Contra Costa County, California, which lists Milton Shepard, 33, born in New York; his wife Synthia [sic, actually Cynthia], 31, also born in New York; their sons William F., 10, born in Illinois, and John F. [sic], 5, born in California; and Milton's parents, William F. Shepard, 62, born in New York, and his wife Sarah, 55, also born in New York.1 He was a stock raiser, owning real estate valued at $5,000 and personal property valued at $5,800. in 1860.1

Milton Shepard, Sr., and Cynthia Shepard appeared on the census of 1870 in Township 3, Contra Costa County, California, which lists Milton Shepard, 41, born in New York; his wife Cynthia, 39, also born in New York; their son Milton [Jr.], 5, born in California; and Milton, Sr.'s widowed mother, Sarah Shepard, 69, born in New York.2 Note: I have not yet found him in the 1880 census.

Shepard, 50, born in New Jersey [sic, probably should be New York?]; his wife Sarah, 45, born in New York; their son Harvey S., 26, born in New York; Harvey's wife Sophrona, 24, born in New York; Harvey and Sophrona's son Milton A. 2, born in Illinois; and apparently absent son Milton's wife Cynthia, 21, born in New York. Query: Where was their son Milton in 1850? He was in Contra Costa County, California, in 1860.2

William F. (Willie) Shepard II was born on 10 January 1851 in Illinois. His date of birth is calculated from his death on 11 March 1870 at age 19 years, 2 months and 19 days.1,2

William F. (Willie) Shepard II died probably of typhoid fever on 11 March 1870 in California at age 19. Note: He listed in the 1860 census, but not in the 1870 census. William F. Shepard apparently died on 11 March 1870, and his brother John H. Shepard died on 19 March 1870, just 8 days later, of malignant typhoid fever.3 He was buried in Alhambra (aka Pioneer) Cemetery, Martinez, Contra Costa County, California, in Lot 5.2
