James Samuel Davis and Laura Maude Davis appeared on the census of 1920 in Kedron, Woodbury County, Iowa, which lists James Davis, 24 [sic, probablly 34]; his wife Maud, 30; and their daughters Vertress, 7, and Fadra, 5 [sic], all born in Missouri.3 He was a blacksmith in 1920.3

James Samuel Davis and Laura Maude Davis appeared on the census of 1930 in Anthon, Woodbury County, Iowa, which lists James S. Davis, 44, born in Missoui, father born in Texas, mother born in Missouri; his wife L. Maude Davis, 42, born in Missouri, both parents also born in Missouri; and their three daughters Vertis [sic] H., 17, born in Missouri, Fadwa [sic] F., 15, born in Missouri, and Wanda W., 8, born in Iowa.2 He was the owner of a blacksmith shop in 1930.2
