Biography

William McDuffee was born in England.
William McDuffee brought the McDuffee coat of arms to America; he settled in western New York.

Mansfield's son, William, was the one who brought over the coat-of-arms, and settled on a farm in western New York. We have learned that he first came to Dutchess County, New York, and then lived for a long time near Freehold, New Jersey, where most of his children were born, and removing to Mcduffietown or Varick, Seneca County, New York, near the end of his life. Tradition, in three different lines of descendants who had lost touch with each other, holds that he came from Edinburgh. (Jay McAfee, 25 Apr 2013.)1
