Biography

Mathilde was born on 11 April 1894 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. [Application for Social Security Account Number, dated 28 December 1951; and Social Security Death Index].2,3,1,4,5

Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise married George William Pantzer, Jr., son of Geroge William Pantzer, Sr., and Sara Elizabeth Anderson, circa 1929. According to the 1930 census, both George and Tillie were 36 years old and had both been married for the first time at age 35. They were probably married in New York.3

Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise died in December 1972 in Amityville (Village), Babylon (Town), Suffolk County, New York, at age 78.2
Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise appeared on the census of 1900 in the household of Maria "Louisa"/ Mary Louise Eise and John T. Eise in 174 Stagg Street, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, which lists John Eise, 29, born in New York in November 1870; his wife Maria, 28, born in Switzerland in April 1872; and evidently John's daughters from a former marriage, Mathilde, 6, born in New York in April 1894, and Florence, 4, born in New York in January 1896. John's occupation is apparently given as a "driver". They rented their residence. Maria is listed as the mother of two children, both of whom were still living, but that is apparently an error (see the 1910 census). Because the 1900 census indicates that Maria (von Buren) and John Eise had been married only two years (i.e., since about 1898), it is quite likely that Louise was not the biological parent of the two daughters, but that they were John's daughters from a former marriage. Their infant son Harold has apparently died just before the 1900 census was taken.6 Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise appeared on the census of 1905 in the household of Maria "Louisa"/ Mary Louise Eise and John T. Eise in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.7 Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise appeared on the census of 1910 in the household of John T. Eise and Maria "Louisa"/ Mary Louise Eise in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, which lists John Eise, 39, born in New York, both parents born in Germany; his wife Marie Eise, 37, born "Switz German", both parents also born "Switz German"; John's daughters from a former marriage Tillie Eise, 16, and Florence Eise, 14, both born in New York and both parents also born in New York; and John's widowed mother Mary Eise, 62, born "Ire[land?] English", who had given birth to five children, three of whom were still living. [Note: John's mother is listed as being born in Germany, but that could be an error.] Marie [von Buren] Eise immigrated in about 1888 and had given birth to only one child [Harold John Rudolph Eise] who was no longer living, so she is clearly not the mother of Tillie and Florence. Also, Marie Eise was born in Swtizerland, and the mother of Tillie and Florence was apparently born in New York. Finally, John and Marie had been married for 11 years (since about 1899) and it was the second marriage for John and the first marriage for Marie.8 Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise was a sales lady for a paper house in 1910.9 She appeared on the census of 1920 in the household of John T. Eise and Maria "Louisa"/ Mary Louise Eise in 1281 Putnam Avenue, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, which lists John Eise, 49, born in New York, his father born in Germany and his mother born in New York; his wife Mary L. [Maria Louisa von Buren], 47, born in Switzerland, both parents also born in Switzerland, immigrated in 1888; and daughter Matilde, 25, born in New York, both parents also born in New York. The fact that Matilde's mother is indicated as being born in New York suggests that "Mary L.", who was born in Switzerland, was not Matilde's mother and that Matilde's mother was an earlier wife of John Eise.10 Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Eise was a bookkeeper for a rubber company in 1920.10

Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Pantzer and George William Pantzer, Jr., appeared on the census of 1930 in 7807 Myrtle Avenue, Queens, Queens County, New York, which lists George Pantzer, 36, born in New York, both parents born in New York; his wife Tillie, 36, born in New York, her father born in New York and her mother born in Switzerland; and Tillie's step-mother Louise [Van Buren] Eise, 57, a widow, born in Switzerland. They were renting their home at 7807 Myrtle Avenue for $50 a month.3

Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Pantzer and George William Pantzer, Jr., appeared on the census of 1940 in Jamaica Avenue, New York, Kings County, New York.11

Her Social Security Number was 058-28-7736, issued in 1951 in New York.12

Mathilde (Tillie) Josephine Pantzer and George William Pantzer, Jr., lived in 1951 in 246 Jamaica Avenue, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.13

According to the Social Security Death Index, Mathilde's last residence was at in Copiague, Suffolk County, New York.2

George and Tillie (Eise) Pantzer apparently did not have any children, thus ending this family line.

Her husband, Gustave, died on 17 June 1955 in 745 East 32nd Street, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, at age 74, leaving her a widow. He died at his home at 745 East 32nd Street, Brooklyn. [The Green-Wood Cemetery Burial Transcript].2

Diane Khoury's 18 November 1998 letter gives her last name as "Schindler". She was apparently known as "Minnie". According to Diane Khoury, Minnie Schindler Van Buren may have come from Swabia, a region in southern Germany.

NOTE: The Application for Social Security Account Number, dated 4 March 1963, and Social Security Death Index for a "Wilhelmina Lukens Van Buren", born 29 August 1877 and died November 1966, is apparently for a different Wilhelmina Van Buren.

Biography

Frank was born on 24 December 1940 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. A 3 May 1999 e-mail from Diane Khoury describes a photo of him dated 24 March 1941 on which he is referred to as "three months old", so he must have been born at the end of 1940 or very early 1941.1,2

He married Cheryl Lucille Curtis on 30 June 1962.2 He and Cheryl Lucille Landgraff were divorced on 21 October 1996.2

Frank Martin Landgraff II married Cindy??? after 1996.

Frank Martin Landgraff II died on 26 May 2008 at age 67.1
His Social Security Number was 369-42-1282, issued in 1958 in Michigan.1

In a 1991 obituary for Ruth Belsta Landgraff (Frank Landgraff's stepmother), Frank Landgraff is listed as a survivor along with three unnamed step grandsons, who are evidently Frank's sons, Frank III, John and Curt Landgraff. A 1991 city directory for Grand Rapids, Michigan, apparently lists one of such sons, Frank M. Landgraff III, at the same address as Frank and Cheryl Landgraff.
