Paul,
I found your information about Irene Provin, daughter of Grace Ranslow and ??? Provin, at Rootsweb. Just giving you a bit more information about Irene. She was my great grandmother. She married Clarence Allen Barlow of Benson, Vt. They had one son, Van Maxwell Barlow (my grandfather). In the 1920 Federal census they were living in Benson, Vt. They divorced and both remarried living next door to each other but in different towns. I'm not familiar with the geography of Vermont, but Clarence lived in Poultney, Vt, until he died in 1966. I read on the 1900 Federal Census that Irene's father's name was Thomas Provin, born December 1861, Grace born September 1881, son Earl born September 1898, and son Van born October 1899. It lists Thomas Provin's parents' places of birth as father in England and mother in Ireland.
I have more information about the Barlow side if you are interested. Thanks for posting what you have; you gave me something to go by for my great grandmother Irene.

Paul,
According to Van's birth certificate, Irene Provin Barlow was 17 years old when Van Maxwell Barlow was born on 4 August 1916. Irene Provin was born in Rockingham, Vermont, and has Rutland, Vermont, listed as her residence.
Clarence Allen Barlow was 25 years old (when his son Van was born) , was born in Benson, Vermont, and resided in Rutland, Vermont.
According to the SSDI, his date of birth was 21 April 1891, and his date of death was August 1966.
Van was born 4 August 1916 and died 4 November 1953 in a freak logging accident in Heath, Massachusetts. He was at the time living in Charlemont, Massachusetts (death info from death certificate). He was born in Stowe, Vermont (birth certificate)
I know that Irene and Clarence divorced not long into the marriage, and Van was the only child from this marriage. Both remarried. Family thinks that
she married a man named Edward? Fish. Clarence married Beatrice ? She died from complications from appendicitis. I don't know if she had any more
children. I do know that she and Clarence lived next door to each other, but in different towns with him in Poultney, Vermont.
I think this is all I have for Irene. Yes! I would love to be put on the Renslow family e-mail list!
Thanks,
Kim

Oh yes, the name of Irene's second husband was Marcus Fish, not Edward. In 1930 they were living in Ira VT. She did die of appendicitis.

Hi Larry,
I am the great granddaughter of Irene Ellen Provin, who was the daughter of Grace Belle Ranslow of VT. How does Samuel fit with my line? The reason I ask is because my grandfather Van Maxwell Barlow (son of Irene E Provin and Clarence Allen Barlow) died the same way..
Call me strange, but I believe every family historian believes in history repeating itself ;)
Thanks
Kim.
