I have a copy of the "Celebration and History of the First Congregational Church of Swanton, Vermont, on its One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary", dated October 14, 1951, that I received some years ago from my Aunt Doris [daughter of Ellen Ranslow Robinson]. Dr. Eugene J. Ranslow, my great-grandfather, served as a minister in this church from 1869-1875 and 1888-1909.

This booklet states the following: "In June 1869 Reverend E. J. Ranslow was installed, and he closed his first pastorate October 1875. Early in 1888 Reverend E. J. Ranslow was recalled, and he was with the Church for the next 21 years, resigning in 1909. During Mr. Ranslow's pastorate, the final addition was added to the Church. This included the organ loft and parlor in the vestry. Also during his pastorate, there was an addition to the parsonage on Grand Avenue and this was later sold, and our present parsonage on Farrar Street was purchased.

Mr. Ranslow was a remarkable preacher, and he was in great demand for outside lectures and addresses. He also was very much interested in farming and during his pastorate in Swanton, he owned at least two different farms which he ran very successfully. After he retired from the Church, he and his wife moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, and were instrumental in forming the Tourist Church in that city which has grown to be one of the largest Congregational Churches in Florida, having a membership of between 900 and 1,000 people. Both Mr. Ranslow and Mrs. Ranslow were very much interested in work among negroes and had a good deal to do with the Bethuene-Cookman College for negroes. Mrs Ranslow was a treasurer of the college for a good may years."

THE NEW SMYRNA NEWS, FRIDAY NOV 21, 1913
Seabreeze, Nov 20. - Rev. E. J. Ranslow and wife arrived Monday afternoon and are comfortably located on the first floor of the Morrison residence, corner of Oakridge boulevard and Peninsula drive, which they occupied last winter. Mr. and Mrs. Ranslow spent the summer in Danville, Vt. and later visited relatives in various parts of New England. They made the trip to Jacksonville by way of boat from Boston. Mr Ranslow will again have charge of the Seabreeze Tourists' church, in which work he is ably assisted by Mrs. Ranslow, both of whom are doing much to build up church interest in Seabreeze.

THE NEW SMYRNA NEWS, FRIDAY MAY 1, 1914
Rev. E. J. Ranslow is Stricken - Rev. E. J. Ranslow of Swanson Vt., pastor of the Tourist (Congregational) church, had a paralytic stroke Saturday evening while seated in the barber's chair about 7 o'clock. On attempting to rise Mr. Ranslow discovered that he had lost the use of his right limbs, although he had no premonition of the shock. He was taken home by friends and the doctor summoned, who could do little more than pronounce the case. The congregation which assembled Sunday morning to listen to Mr. Ranslow's closing sermon, were discussed by W. B. Hatch, on of the trustees of the church just previous to which the following resolutions were adopted"
"That we express to Dr. and Mrs. Ranslow our sincere appreciation of their efficient labor in this field during the past and previous years; That we extend our sincere sympathy at this time for what we trust is but the temporary illness of Dr. Ranslow;
And that we express our prayerful hope for a speedy recovery and return to our common work restored in health and renewed in spirit when the season comes again.

THE NEW SMYRNA NEWS, FRIDAY JUNE 12, 1914
E.J. Ranslow Laid to Rest --
A card received from Mrs. Ranslow by friends here contains the following account of the funeral and burial of Rev. E. J. Ranslow, pastor of the Seabreeze Tourist church, at his home town, Swanton, (Vt): "The funeral was held here at the Congregational church at 2:30 Wednesday, June 3rd. Rev. John Thomas officiated, assited by Rev. Dr. Peterson of East Berkshire. The Thirteenth and Jenett post here formed a guard of honor. The I.O.O.F. furnished ushers and attended in a body. The people here have been doing everthing possible since our arrival, so that the kindness shown us at Seabreeze is being continued as fully as you could wish."

The Seabreeze Tourist Church is now the Seabreeze United Church of Daytona Beach Florida. I tried calling to request information and was refered to someone who has researched the church. There was no answer at the second number. I have in my data base a Eugene John Ranslow, born October 21, 1842 in Georgia, Franklin County, Vermont; died June 01, 1914. He was the son of George Washington Ranslow and Anna Meade Parmelee. He married Eliza Kingsbury May 11, 1869 in Norwich, Windsor County, Vermont. She was born May 19, 1844 in Jericho, Chittenden County, Vermont, and died February 28, 1897 in Swanton, Franklin County, Vermont. Is this the same person? If so then could he have remarried?
