Obituary

The Rev. Kenneth Gerald Truckenbrod, 82, of DeKalb, Ill., died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. Born Jan. 10, 1925, in Mendota, he was the son of George Elliott Truckenbrod and Minnie Barbara (Buck) Truckenbrod. He married Gloria Algene Houghton on June 3, 1950, at First United Brethren Church (now Community United Methodist Church) in Naperville. He was a graduate of North Central College and Evangelical Theological Seminary (Garrett Seminary) in Naperville. He served as a pastor to several United Methodist churches from 1952 to 1990. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a first sergeant and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Elliott (Diane) Truckenbrod of Kyle, S.D., and Brett Lee (Leah) Truckenbrod of DeKalb; a daughter, Karen G. (Edward) Keating of Barrington; and eight grandchildren, Robert and Elicia Truckenbrod, Andrea, Nadine and Tanya Keating and Hannah, Amanda and Isaac Truckenbrod. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
