My dear, sweet mother passed away January 4, 2014 in the graceful and dignified way she lived her life. She was born in Malta, Idaho on October 2, 1924 to Thomas Lloyd Hutchison and Della Mae Richins. Her family, including sisters Delsa and Karen, and brother Tom, relocated to Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School. She enjoyed her career as an Executive Assistant in medical administration and worked for many respected organizations such as Union Oil, Intermountain Health Care and finally retired from the Utah Hospital Association. In 1947, Theda married her first husband William Geery (deceased) and they had a son Walter Lloyd in January 1948. Bill and Theda later divorced. On March 24, 1961 she married Graham Karl Houghton and had a daughter Traci in March of 1964. Theda loved golf, bowling and bridge and spending time with her husband Graham and many wonderful friends with whom they spent every New Years' Eve and many other holidays with for over 40 years. Theda was the most gracious and loving person and made everyone's life easier. Theda is survived by her daughter Traci, her grandson Adam Geery (California) and sister Karen Gurney (Don). Theda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Graham, her son Walter and her siblings Thomas Lloyd Hutchison and Delsa Hutchison Jones.
Funeral visitation will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South from Noon - 1:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2014; funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery. A special thanks to the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living and Millcreek Hospice. Good bye my sweet "bug" I will see you soon and love you always. You are my BFF.
