Billerica Leonard C. Houghton, age 52, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at his home in Billerica after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Debra M. (Higgins) Houghton.
Born in Stoneham, June 6, 1956, he was the son of the late William and Viola Houghton. He was an automotive mechanic prior to working for the Town of Billerica as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Houghton, a life long resident of Billerica, was an active member of the Billerica Moose Club #2648 and was looking forward to the opening of the new club building. He was also a longtime member of the Billerica Elk's #2071 and an auxiliary member of VFW #8819. Lenny enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, and fishing. He especially enjoyed music, everything from keyboard to playing his guitar. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Melissa, Selina, and Jessica Houghton, his son, Lenny Houghton, all of Billerica, and his brother and sister-in-law, James and Gail Houghton of Florida. He was also the brother-in-law of Gary and Marie Higgins, Carol O'Brien, Reeny and Roland McKenney, all of Billerica and Cheryl Higgins of Las Vegas, NV, nephew of Selina Bishop of Canada and Edna Houghton of Florida, and cousin of Shirley and Gordon Price of Canada. He was also the father of the late Erin Houghton and brother-in-law of the late Wally O'Brien and the late Buddy Higgins.
