JoAnne Marie Cahill, a vice president of Scudder, Stevens & Clark, an investment counseling company in New York, was married yesterday to Alanson Bigelow Houghton 3d, an associate in New York for Inter-Asia Venture Management, a Hong Kong venture capital concern. The Rev. Mark Anschutz and the Rev. Alanson B. Houghton 2d, the bridegroom's father, officiated at St. James' Episcopal Church in New York.

Mrs. Houghton graduated from Boston College and received an M.B.A. from New York University. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Cahill of Pleasantville, N.Y. Her father, who is retired, was a manager for Pepsico Inc.

Mr. Houghton graduated from Denison University. His mother is Lyle S. Houghton of Louisville, Ky. His father, of Charleston, S.C., retired as the rector of the Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York. The bridegroom's grandfather the late Amory Houghton Sr. was the president of Corning Inc., the glass company, and the Ambassador to France under President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
