Kalamazo, MI, USA, DENNEY, Arthur H. Age 84 Formerly of East Leroy
Died Thursday Oct. 26, 2006 at Fairview Living Center in Centreville. He was born in Marion, IN on Sep. 28, 1922 the son of Fred and Goldie (DeHoff) Denney. He attended school in Indiana and later served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Arthur was married to Mary Maxine Houghton on June 22, 1946 in Mendon. They resided in East Leroy following their marriage. Arthur worked as a machinist at Eaton Manufacturing in Springfield, and was the proprietor of Denney's Heating and Cooling. Following his retirement, he began a pig roasting business for local gatherings and celebrations. Arthur enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Athens Lions Club. He is survived by five children, Ruth & William DeBoer of Vicksburg, Gerald & Carolyn Denney of Battle Creek, Freddie Denney of Battle Creek, Nancy Denney of Kalamazoo, and Harold & Laura Denney of Rives Junction; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mabel Holt (Elwin), Bertha Smith (Clyde), and Dolores "Dolly" Loker (Bruce) all of Fulton, Mary Martha Denney and Doris "Doe" Denney both of Sherwood, and Patsy Shepler-Carter (Ted) of Athens; one brother, Fredrick Dale Denney (Doris) of Athens; two sisters in law, Sally Denney of Factoryville and Darlene Denney of Athens; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary in 1998; one sister, Alma Guthrie; and two brothers, William and Peter Denney. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 31, 2006 at the Country Christian Evangelical Free Church, 9286 S. 36th Street, Scotts, MI with Rev. Patrick Cleary, Pastor officiating. There will be food and fellowship in the church hall following services. Military interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 10/29/2006.¹
