ODESSA Ernest Paul Houghton, 84, of Portales, N.M., formerly of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Portales, N.M. He was born January 30, 1927 in Caddo, TX to Sherman Paul & Myrtle (Whitley) Houghton. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He married Martha Julia Braggs October 9, 1946 in Hamlin, TX. He was a retired welder for the City Of Odessa, where he had worked for 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha Houghton, brother, Raymond Houghton, and grandson, Randy L. Hough-ton.
He is survived by his sons, Paul Houghton of Odessa, Lee Houghton of Orange, TX, daughters, Ann Croom of Odessa, Velma Nichols of Portales, NM, Thelma Dunfee of Roswell, NM, brothers, Jack "Jessie" Houghton of Hamlin, TX, Alvin Houghton of Arlington, TX, sister, Juanita McDaniel of Odessa, (17) grandchildren, (35) great-grandchildren, (6) great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert Lamb Jr. officiating. Raymond Lee Houghton

Raymond Lee Houghton, 79, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, in Abilene.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in Hamlin with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Adams Funeral Home.

Born May 23, 1929, in Caddo, Raymond was the son of the late Sherman and Myrtle (Whitley) Houghton. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Judy K. Burrell on January 11, 1977, in Abilene. Before his retirement, Raymond worked as a Mechanic and Parts Manager for Treanor Equipment. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and the Hamlin V.F.W. Raymond enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, gardening and visiting with friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Judy Houghton of Hamlin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Don and Mary Houghton of Abilene, and Ron and Christi Houghton of Merkel; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mark Nix of Abilene; three brothers, Ernest Houghton of Odessa, Jesse Houghton of Hamlin, and Alvin Houghton of Arlington; one sister, Juanita McDaniel of Odessa; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Adams Funeral Home in Hamlin.
