Marilee A. Houghton

ELKHART - Marilee A. Houghton, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 10 in Elkhart General Hospital.

Marilee was born on December 8, 1939 in Mishawaka to Amanda J. (Hight) and Omer L. Poorman. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.

On June 7, 1959 in Mishawaka, as the former Marilee Poorman, she married Dale G. Houghton; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2008. Surviving are four sons, David Dale (Beth) Houghton of Middlebury, IN, Mark William (Sue Hamilton) Houghton of Osceola, Steven Ralph (Sheila) Houghton of South Bend, and Gary Allen (Tricia) Houghton of Granger; 11 grandchildren, D.J., Jeremy, J.C., Holli, Heather, Brianna, Elizabeth, Amanda, Shelby, Spencer, and Jess; and great-grandchildren, Collin, Casen, Avery, Kaylee, Olivia, and Aubrey.

Marilee was a lifetime member of Coalbush United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, where she sang in the choir for 40 years. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 161 for more than 60 years. She held all offices at different times through the years. She was a realtor with Prudential One Realty before moving to Elkhart. She was a member of the Boardwalk Community where she lived.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 14 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral Services will at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Dale.
