Born in London, Mr. Houghton had lived in Freeport for the last thirty years. He served in the Seventy-seventh Division of the Army in the first World War and was a member of the 302d Engineers Post of the American Legion.⁶

Ocean Pines - Thorndike W. Houghton, 77, died Monday, Sept. 2.2002. at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Born in Milton. Mass., he was a son of the late Leslie George Houghton and Mabel Dillingham Houton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years. Beverly A. Houghton; three daughters, Susan Mortillo of Pleasant Valley. N.Y.. Chris Bryant of Roanoke. Va., and Beverly Houghton of East Meadow. Long Island. N.Y; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday. Sept. 26.2002. at 3 p.m. at Ft. Myer Chapel in Ft. Myer. Va., followed by inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery.

Funeral services for Alfred R. Houghton, 65, of Alma, a former Lansing resident, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Houghton died Sunday in an Alma hospital. He had worked for Oldsmobile for 34 years and lived in Lansing most of his life. Mr. Houghton was a member of the Quarter Century Club of 01dsmobile and had served in the Navy in World War I. Surviving are his wife, Lena K; a daughter, Mrs. Harvey Kelley of Charlotte, and a granddaughter.
