Mrs. Mertie Houghton. 78. a former resident of Sedaba. died in Kansas City where she had lived for the past ten years. Mrs Houghton was born in Ohio on .Ian. 15. 1875. She is the widow of Charles Houghton, who died on March 23, 1923. She is a former member of ^Th,e East Sedalia Baptist Church and was a member of the Oakland Park Baptist Church at the time of her death. She is survived by four daugh ters Mrs John V. Trauter and Mrs. Dina Raucour both of Kansas City; Mrs William Hunt, Terry, la. and Mrs. William
Beresford, El Paso, Tex; one sister, Mrs. James B Mulcahey. 520Wilkerson, Sedalia, eight grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
