Biography

He moved to Cisco Ga. and owned a lumber mill there. He then moved to Edgewater Florida and had an orange grove. He was mayor twice and founded the fire department.

Just for your information, because I'm sure it's just apocryphal, but his wife, my grandmother, Josephine Ebenbeck Haughton always insisted that the name Lewis honored Meriwether Lewis who was somehow "related by marriage."^8,9

Houghton: Requiem mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church for Warren Briggs Houghton, a 70-year resident of San Bernardino. Houghton, of 247H Palm Ave., died Monday in a Lancaster hospital. He was 72. Survivors include his widow, Annamarie, of San Bernardino;
Two sons, Warren of Lancaster, and Col. Rodney Houghton of New Jersey; mother. Mrs. Frances Benson of San Bernardino: and six grandchildren. Burial will be held at Mt. View Cemetery. Emmerson - Olsen Lancaster Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
