Services were held in Martin’s Ferry on Thursday for Miss Edna M. Haughton, 83, of Columbus, who died on Tuesday. Miss Haughton, a retired school teacher, is survived by three cousins. In 1931-32 she was commercial teacher in the Laurelville High School. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

Services were held in Martins Ferry on Thursday for Miss Edna M. Haughton, 83, of Columbus who died on Tuesday. Miss Haughton was a retired school teacher and State office worker. In 1931-32 she was commercial teacher in the Laurelville high school. Only survivors are three cousins. Burial was made in Riverview cemetery, Martins Ferry. Ancestry trees offers Miss Edna's lineage to Stephen Barnes, her 3x grandfather, through her paternal grandmother, Sarah Jane (Barnes) Haughton. Stephen Barnes served as private, 1781, in Captain Staunton's company, 2nd regiment, Light Dragoons, Continental troops. He was born 1736 in Connecticut; died in Pennsylvania.
