| Christening | Brigida was christened on 30 January 1852 in Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland. |
| Residence | She resided in Strand Street, Dungarvan, in 1871. |
| Marriage | Brigida Power and Johannes English were married on 29 January 1871 in St. Mary's, Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland, Address: Waterford & Lismore Parish, Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland Wedding took place in a Roman Catholic Chapel and RC Parish - I see from the register that the witnesses were Michael English and Jane Power (there is another name, maybe Lucella I cannot decipher the christian name, might also be Lucilla, Linda or Loretta), but she will possibly be a bridesmaid. There is the mention of "Strand Street" ... maybe that is where Johannes lived, I don't know ... but Angela Tobin advises that:- "John is stated as living at Strand st, Dungarvan which is just around the corner from St Mary's. John's brother (My gggrandfather) Patrick lived on O'Connell st , Dungarvan. Michael lived in Dungarvan for a while but then settled in Waterford City. Nearly all his children moved to England at various stages. ."2 |
| Biography | Bridget (on my grandmother Frances English's Birth Certificate) was illiterate and left her mark in lieu of her signature on that document. Oh yes, Barmouth Street is between the Gas Works and Great Howard Street. |
| Her daughter Frances English was born on 30 January 1875 in 22 Barmouth Street, St. Martin, Liverpool, England. | |
| Her daughter Elizabeth English was born on 11 March 1877 in Liverpool, England. | |

| Her daughter Maria Brigida English was born on 4 November 1879 in Dungarvan, Waterford & Lismore, Ireland. | |
| Note | Brigid is recorded as a ship baker's wife, husband absent at sea. We know that she has a cousin Edward O'Brien (#23020) born circa 1855 in Ireland. He may well be the son of an uncle who is a brother of her mother, Ellena O'Brien. Brigid also has a niece Mary Power (#23008) born about 1865 also in Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland. She may be the daughter of a brother of her father Thomas Power. Of course, Mary may be the wife of a nephew being the son of her husband Thomas Power's brother. Hard to say at this stage. |

| Residence | She resided in Strathfield, NSW, Australia. |
| Biography | Four children died as babies, according to Joan Betty Snelson. Connie Skey Wynn ( nee Snelson ) indicated that Anna's mother's father may have been a physician in Everton, Liverpool, England. I think I have this story right. I understand that Anna's brother Les Webb may have worked with Peter in Cobar. On August 9 1899, the Hospital Committee held a "Plain and Fancy Dress Ball" at the Masonic Hall in Barton Street. Mrs Peter Snelson attended the function attired as a nurse which was fitting as she was a tireless worker for charity. She was included in the list of the first New South Wales female Justices of the Peace. There is a fine photograph of her in the book "Cobar Founding Fathers". Wallace writes that they married in 1893 - "the year of the bank smash". I'm not too sure what this gem means; I must do some more research about what happened in 1893. Was there a run on the banks ?
