  4. [S1078] Anita Adams, "Anita Adams," e-mail message from (unknown address) to Kathleen Shaw Decker, Feb 7, 2014, Henry Lemon’s sister Catherine was born in 1816 in Cayuga, I believe. She married James A. Benedict on 15 June, 1843 in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Montezuma. It was officiated by Orman Lathrop, of Sterling. James was 39 and Catherine was 27. They had two sons, William 1845, and James Micajah 1843 before James Benedict died in 1846. Catherine was married to Joseph Ellis on the 11th May, 1850 in Cayuga. They had three daughters before Joseph died on the 16 March 1860, leaving Catherine to raise them and William in relative poverty. James Micajah Benedict died in the Civil War in 1863 and his mother was his beneficiary. During the period from 1860-1864 Catherine placed her daughters in the Auburn Home for Destitute Children for several months at a time. I am descended from her eldest daughter, Imogene, who was born in 1851 and who was married to William S. Van Bergen 30 March 1867 in Auburn. Her second daughter, Geraldene, born in 1854, married John Drew in 1868 in Port Byron. The third daughter, Mary A was born in 1858 and married in 1886 in Philadelphia.
