     She died on 25 September 1999 in Nortonville, Jefferson County, Kansas, USA, at age 95.3 Hazel McCoy was buried in Nortonville Cemetery, Nortonville, Jefferson County, Kansas, USA.1
     She was a survivor of her husband William who died in 1946.1
     The following newspaper article appeared in the Atchison, Kansas Atchison Daily Globe 7 October 1953 :
Mrs. Hazel Hoffman and Clyde Sowles, both of Nortonville, were married at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at the First Methodist church in Topeka. Dr. Eugene Frank officiated. Mrs. Beverly Bomhoff of Valley Falls played the traditional wedding music and accompanied Jack Hoffman who sang "The Lord's Prayer." The attendants were Mrs. Tony Hagen of Topeka and Mac Hoffman of Effingham. Following the wedding a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hagen. The couple left for a three-week trip to the West coast. Mr. Sowles, a barber, is the mayor of Nortonville. Those attending the wedding from Nortonville area were Billy and Jack Hoffman, Miss Beverley Bomhoff, Mrs. Stella Stewart, and Mr. and Mrs. Mac Hoffman and children.2

     The following newspaper article appeared in the Atchison, Kansas Atchison Daily Globe 29 December 1955 :

Billy Hoffman, who is in the navy at San Diego, called home in the afternoon.4

Mrs. Hazel Sowles has been spending some time in Topeka with her mother, Mrs. Lucy McCoy, who is ill and a patient at St. Francis hospital.5
