Evelyn Start
Evelyn Mildred Start, 91, of Bainbridge Island died Jan. 21, 2002, at Messenger House Care Center on Bainbridge Island.

She was born July 6, 1910, in Port Angeles to Albert and Stella (Harley) Raber. She graduated from Seattle's Queen Anne High School in 1927.

She married George E. Start on July 18, 1931, on Bainbridge Island. He died in 1974.

Mrs. Start had been a homemaker for 40 years.

She was a member of Chapter 231 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Start of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and John Start of Mill Creek; a brother, Chester Raber of Whittier, Calif; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Raber.

A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church on Bainbridge Island.
