Dear sister of Leonard Rutledge and his wife Jean of Saskatoon, Betty Bentley and her husband Bev of Delisle, Saskatchewan and Cora Olstad and her husband Darryl (Olie) of High River, Alberta, and Joyce Summach and her husband Manley. Predeceased by a brother James Rutledge and a sister Joyce Summach. Cherished Aunt of Bill Rutledge and Linda Heitel, Kim, Monty, Kirk, Sandra, Janice and Danny Summach, Rhonda Rutledge, Joe and Jay Olstad and the late James Olstad. Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Thursday, November 24 from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in the Deep River Community Cemetery. In memoriam donations to the Salvation Army would be gratefully appreciated.

     He was born on 31 May 1893 in Ontario, Canada.2 Wilkie married Myrtle Adelaide Hawkins on 5 October 1921 in Orillia, Orillia Twp., Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 019897.1 Wilkie Roy Ego was buried in Ardtrea Cemetery, Ardtrea, Orillia Twp., Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada.3
     He died in 1980.4
     His name was also recorded as Milkie Roy Ego.2 He also went by the name of Roy.5
     While visiting his brother Ray in Asquith, Roy fathered a child with Beatrice Suter. This was Aunt Joyce Summach nee Hambly. She was raised my her maternal grandparents, thinking that they were her natural parents until she was nearly 80.6 He and Beatrice Cicely Suter were Partners circa November 1918.5

JUNIATA.
Funeral for Joseph L. Knapp, 71, pioneer district resident, was held from tlie Baptist Church in Asquith, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Stade, assisted by John Wheeler. Burial was in Asquith cemetery.

Mr. Knapp was born in Ontario and came with his parents from Rainy River in 1903. The family homesteaded adjacent to what is now the town of Asquith. Surviving are three sons and three daughters.8

     The following selected information is extracted from her obituary. Survivor(s): Charles E Brooks, Albert S Brooks, Mrs W J Thompson and Mrs W Barclay.3 Sarah Brooks was buried on 2 October 1949 in Asquith Cemetery, RM of Vanscoy No. 345, Saskatchewan, Canada. The pallbearers were: Frederick Summach, Alf Wheeler, W Wellwood, R B Warren, H J McKee and F Meredith.5
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Saskatoon StarPhoenix published in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 30 September 1949:
Brooks--The Death of Mrs. Sarah Brooks, aged 72 years, of Asquith occurred in a Saskatoon hospital on September 28. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 2 p.m. from Asquith Baptist Church. Park Funeral Chapel in charge. Surviving are two sons, Charles E. and Albert S., both of Asquith, three daughters, Mrs. W. J. Thompson of Asquith, Mrs. W. Barclay of Lanigan, and Mrs. George McNabb of Saskatoon. A brother, W. Gray of D'Arcy, Sask. The late Mrs. Brooks had been a resident of the Asquith district for the last 40 years.3

Mr. Roy Leighton Lake passed away suddenly at his residence Monday, December 15, 2008. Roy was born in Asquith, Saskatchewan on September 15,1934. He worked mostly in the Trucking Industry until 1972 when he and his family moved from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Thunder Bay, Ontario where he owned and operated Lake Ramp Service Inc. at the Thunder Bay Airport. He and his family had the Airmail Contract with Canada Post for 17 years. During these years he also owned and operated Maint'N'All Services spending several Christmases repairing someone's broken furnace. He retired in 1997 due to ill health. Roy married his wife Betty and they celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary in August 2008. They had two children Garnet (Sue) of St. Catharines, Ontario and Gayle (Malcolm) Chaisson of Thunder Bay. He had four grandchildren Kayla and Megan Lake and Tyler and Troy Chaisson. Other relatives left to mourn are sisters Shirley (Jock) Cleghorn, Audrey Swidrovich and a brother Wayne (Carol) all living in Asquith, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents and brother in law John Swidrovich. Roy was known as a very friendly guy who would do anything for anyone. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice will be greatly appreciated. Please sign the online condolences at everestofthunderbay.com"
