George was born on 27 February 1859 in Hopkins, Nodaway County, Missouri.1 He married Alice Iva Berry on 29 December 1878 in Hopkins, Nodaway County, Missouri. mc: State of Missouri, County of Nodaway. I hereby certify that on the 29th day of December 1878, I solemnized the marriage of George W. Wilcoxon with Alice I. Berry. Witness my hand this 29 day of Dec 1878. John Douglas J.P. Alice was born on 28 July 1860 in Afton, Union County, Iowa.1 She married George Horton Wilcoxen on 29 December 1878 in Hopkins, Nodaway County, Missouri. mc: State of Missouri, County of Nodaway. I hereby certify that on the 29th day of December 1878, I solemnized the marriage of George W. Wilcoxon with Alice I. Berry. Witness my hand this 29 day of Dec 1878. John Douglas J.P. Filed for Record April 18, 1879. Lawrence J. Growney Recorder. Alice died on 1 April 1931, in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas, at age 70.2
1880 census showed that Alice's sister Laura (age 3) was residing with Alice and George. In 1897, Alice was elected to the Mulberry School Board, Ford County, Kansas, as clerk. Her children attended the school. Apparently, she held the post three years. 1910 census showed 6 children, 5 living; age given would indicate birth year of 1861. Bette Gibson has birth year as 1859. Newspaper obituary, unknown date and newspaper; photocopy sent by Larry Wilcoxen, originally from Bette Gibson: age 71; died at residence, 811 Second Avenue, following an illness of several weeks; lived in Dodge City since 1918 after moving from Mulberry Creek farm near Ford; came from MO in 1885, homesteading 18 miles southeast of Dodge City; survived by five sons and daughters, J.I. Wilcoxen, W.C. Wilcoxen, Mrs. John Reynolds of Ford, C.H. Wilcoxen and Mrs. G.W. Tucker of Dodge City; sister Mrs. Mamie Dalrymple had been living with Alice; two other sisters live in Wellington; services to be held at Nazarene church, Rev. George W. Brannon officiating; burial at Ford Cemetery; Hulpieu Mortuary. A second obituary, same source, said she became a Christian at the age of 23, joined the Mulberry Presbytarian Church; in 1926, she joined the Church of the Nazarene and stayed with that one until she died.

1900 census had George born in Sep. 1880; George was listed as head of household with Arthur Grimm, age 17, and Riveras Grimm, age 13, as his partners; George's occupation was given as dairyman, his partners as farm laborers. This was in Ford County, Dodge Township.
