Edwin John Haughton January 27, 1930 - November 26, 2009
Edwin John Haughton was born on January 27, 1930 in Lansford, Pennsylvania to John and Jane Haughton. He attended Lansford High School where he was known as Scottie. While attending high school he played football, was active in the Foreign Affairs Club, Student Council, and was a member of the Yearbook Staff. Edwin enlisted in the Navy February 5, 1948, and served in waters off Guam, Japan and Korea. He was discharged on January 31, 1952. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Defense Medal, and the U.S. Navy Medallion.
While on leave in San Francisco, California he met his future wife Gloria Hall. He and Gloria married in 1952. Edwin and Gloria lived in Fresno while raising their three daughters Robyn, Jayne and Cynthia. Edwin worked for Unocal Corporation for 31 years in Fresno, CA and for six years prior to retirement in Kennewick, Washington. Edwin retired in February of 1992 and settled in Visalia, California to be nearer o his daughters and their fami- ies. Edwin spent much of his ife in California but his heart always belonged to Pennsylvania. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and the Mediterranean with his beloved friend and companion Ginny Sumner who preceded him in death.
Edwin was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother and cherished time spent with his family. Edwin truly loved his dogs Shadow, Misty and Sal. He was well by the residents of Castlewood for his many daily walks with his loyal canine companions. Edwin was an ivid reader and enjoyed cross word puzzles.
Edwin is survived by his daughters Robyn Adair Henry, Jayne Marie Villi and Cynthia Catherine Wagner, and their husbands Kent Henry, Charles
Villi and Robert Wagner Jr., his grand children Charles Villi, Alicia Bielatowicz, Joshua Villi, Jacqueline Meeker, Chase Wagner, Chandler Wagner, Logan Henry and Katelin Henry, his great grand children Alexander Villi and Charles Meeker and his sister Kay Haughton Matta and her husband Joe and their children Joe and Gary Matta.
Edwin will truly be missed by his friends and family but especially by his three daughters who are so thankful for his love and support throughout their lifetimes. Services will be held at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 East Caldwell Avenue, Visalia, CA on December 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

Edwin J. Haughton, died yesterday morning in the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Bertsch St., Lansford. Bom in England, he lived in Lansford the greater part of his life. He was a member of the Christadelphian Meeting in Newark, N. J. His wife died seven years ago and a daughter, Mrs. Edith McKelvie, Nutley, N. J., died two months ago. Surviving are six sons, William, South Africa, George, Nesquehoning; Emerson, Summit Hill, and Albert, Abe and John, of Lansford; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Russell, Kearney, N.
