Roy was born October 22, 1921 in Marshall, TX and passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009. He was a charter member of Dunlap Presbyterian Church.

His parents, Roy, Sr. and Katie Rose Haughton, brother, Henry Haughton, and sister, Katherine Teepell, preceded Roy in death. Numerous nieces and nephews survive him.

Memorials may be made to Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home.

BLUEFIELD, WV - Services for Henry Thomas Haughton, 81, formerly of Shreveport, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2004, at University Church of Christ, Shreveport. Family visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church.. Officiating will be Rev. James Armstrong of Portland, Oregon. Immediately following the services, a brief ceremony and fly-by using Mr. Haughton’s own airplane "The Spirit of Haughton", built by him in 1961, will be held at the Experimental Aircraft Association Hangar at the Shreveport Downtown Airport. This will be Mr. Haughtons last flight to fulfill his wishes, soaring over the land where he was born and raised.
Mr. Haughton passed away in Bluefield, WV on Thursday, July 8, 2004, after a brief illness.
He was a native of Shreveport, where he retired after 28 years of service with the Caddo Parish School System. He was very proud to have been a teacher of young minds. He had been a resident of Bluefield, WV for the past eight years. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp., Mr. Haughton served his country with honor in Europe during WWII. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and Trinity United Methodist Church. During his last years in Shreveport, he also enjoyed membership and playing in the "Shreveport German Band".
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Ethel Haughton of Bluefield, WV, and is preceded in death by a son, Forrest Ned Haughton. Other survivors include a brother, Roy Haughton of Shreveport; sister, Kathryn Teepell and husband George of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Wade Haughton and wife, Mary Beth of Houston, TX; son, Jeffery Haughton and wife, Liz of Houston, TX; daughter, Nancy Haughton Grady and husband, Jim of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Allison Haughton Martin and husband, Perry of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Leigh Haughton Loggins and husband, Barrett Christiansen of Eugene, OR; daughter, Pamela Francis and husband, Greg Granger of Campti, LA; daughter, Lisa Wangler and husband, Conrad of Arlington, TX; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

"In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11. As the sun rose Wednesday morning, May 27, 2009, Kitty Teepell stepped into the presence of the Lord. We rejoice in His timing and celebrate her long awaited reunion with our sister/her daughter, Kathy. The joy of heaven just went up a notch! Kitty+Kathy=Fun! Kitty Teepell was born May 29, 1925, in Shreveport to Roy and Katie Rose Haughton. She was the much loved baby sister of Roy and Henry and spent her childhood with the friendships of many cousins. She graduated from Byrd High and at 18 met her future husband, George, at a USO dance. He was a confident young airman from upstate New York who at first glance fell hard for the beautiful blonde in the red dress. This smart Yankee quickly convinced her that she was the only girl for him and restated this truth to her every day of her life. Even at the end of Alzheimer's awful road, his kiss was still familiar to her and never failed to comfort her. What a gift this was to all of us. Kitty was a devoted wife and enriched their life together through involvement in CPA Auxiliary, Sherwood Forest Country Club, golf, bridge, dinner clubs and travel. They had many dear, close friends. Her role as mother to three sons and a daughter was the showcase for her many talents and tireless devotion. She was the room-mother, the Brownie leader, the CHS and KA mothers' club member and the mother who faithfully wrote to her son, the Marine, in Vietnam. She taught them to shoot guns, ride horses, mow lawns, fish, sew, paint, hammer, find treasures in junk piles, work hard, laugh harder and to forever treasure the word "Mom" with brilliant clarity. To say Kitty was a fun grandmother is an understatement. Her grandchildren fondly remember many "Kitty-isms" that can still make their parents smile. Thanks to her coaching, they are all capable gin players and "masters of the bluff." Left to treasure her memory are her husband, George; her sons and their wives, retired U.S. Air Force Col. Kenneth and Dana Teepell, Tommy and Brenda Teepell, Charlie and Toni Teepell; son-in-law, Clay Sanders; her grandchildren and their spouses, Tommy and Alicia Teepell, Timmy and Sarah Teepell, Shawn and Konrad Eppel M.D., Kristin and Sean Bergeron, Jeremy Hebert, Todd Teepell, Courtney Teepell, Taylor Teepell and Charlie Michael Teepell; her 10 great-grandchildren, her brother, Roy Haughton; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside farewell was celebrated by her family on her 84th birthday, Friday, May 29, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Her husband's desire to have Kitty at home with him was possible because of the loving care of Joan Woodward and Ashley McPherson. We are deeply grateful for the tender, dignified care by the staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph's Hospice during the last two weeks of her life. Memorial donations may be sent to this wonderful facility or to the Alzheimer's Association of Baton Rouge. We were richly blessed by the gift of Kitty Teepell's life and we thank God for the years with her. She loved and is loved dearly. She will be missed deeply. Heaven seems ever closer as the reunion party increases with faces we long to see. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." Psalm 30:5.
