Henry O. Haughton: It is with sadness, yet fond memories, that we announce the death of Henry O. Haughton on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH.

Born and raised in Wallingford, CT, Henry attended school locally before finishing his high school education at Radley College, a boarding school for boys located in Oxfordshire, England. Upon graduation from Radley, he attended Yale University in New Haven, CT, earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.

Following his graduation from Yale, Henry served in U.S. Navy and held the rank of Lieutenant J.G during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the service, Henry worked for many years at Commonwealth Energy as a Risk Manager.

Henry leaves behind many relatives and friends including his wife of 17 years, Charlotte Corcoran of Portsmouth, NH and her family, his daughters Sophia of McLean, VA, Dorothea and husband Phillip of Lunenburg, MA, and Maria of Allston, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Benton, Aiden, Christian, Anakin, Richard, and Donald. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Elizabeth, to whom he was married for 47 years.

Henry and Charlotte enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, with adventures to Europe, the Panama Canal, and the Mississippi River, among others. An active participant in men’s groups in Tampa, Fl and Portsmouth, NH, Henry also enjoyed volunteering in his retirement, including at the Humane Society in Tampa as well as at the Hampton (NH) Public Library. His leisure pursuits included bike rides with Charlotte, puzzles, and reading. The pair also attended alumni events at Yale. Before falling ill over the past year, Henry was a regular at Planet Fitness in Portsmouth.

Charlotte and her family want to thank the wonderful staff of Webster at Rye, the Edgewood Center, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital for taking such good care of Henry over the past several months.

Henry will be buried in Fairmont Spring Cemetery in Fairmont Springs, PA.
