Burial will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Spur Cemetery in Spur. Born Oct. 17,1924 in Spur, Mr. Allen retired from New York University as a business manager after many years of employment. He was a member of the Junction Highway Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Arline D. Houghton on July 9, 1972 in New York City, N.Y. She preceded him in death in 1990. Survivors include a brother, Dupree C Allen of Hermeleigh; a nephew and four nieces.

Jeffrey Alan Houghton: Dad, left the Army in about 1951 and we all moved to Hammersmith in London W6 where he was would spend the rest of his life, and until he joined the Army think he was Mansfield Nottinghamshire. Various occupations, Technical at the Museum of Mankind (Part of the British Museum); did a lot various things before that.
As far as I know my grandparents came from Nottinghamshire, Mansfield, possibly a village involved somewhere done the line. Grandma had suggested at some stage our family on her side might have come from one of the border counties of Wales.
