ObituarySep 14, 2015HOUGHTON, Murray

84, resident of Highland Lakes, died Sept. 12, 2015. He was a fine Christian man whose loving and caring concern for others was shown in many ways. He was devoted to his wife Betty through 60 years of marriage. He was proud of his children Daryl (Christina), Robin (Robert), and Craig (Michelle). He enjoyed the times that he had with his 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He participated in a variety of sports as a young man, especially basketball. He liked to see or listen to both ball and hockey games. His work found him with three different car companies such as Ford, American Motors, and Chrysler. He achieved much success in the human resource area. He and Betty spent their retirement years traveling to many areas of the world. He participated in church related activities in Ontario, Michigan, and Florida. For several years he was treasurer for Religious Community Services (RCS). He is survived by his brothers and sisters, plus many nieces and nephews. A family gathering was always a warm and welcomed event. Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, Sept 14 at 6 pm at Emmanuel Community Church located at 1150 CR 1, Palm Harbor. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to RCS at www.rcspinellas.org in memory of Murray.

Event-MiscDec 16, 1773harbor of, Boston, MA, USA, participated in the Boston Tea Party, protesting Tea tax; British tried to end black market in tea sales
ResearchDecember 16th, 1773

It is estimated that hundreds took part in the Boston Tea Party. For fear of punishment, many participants of the Boston Tea Party remained anonymous for many years after the event. To date it is known that 116 people are documented to have participated. Not all of the participants of the Boston Tea Party are known; many carried the secret of their participation to their graves. The participants were made up of males from all walks of colonial society. Many were from Boston or the surrounding area, but some participants are documented to have come from as far away as Worcester in central Massachusetts and Maine. The vast majority was of English descent, but men of Irish, Scottish, French, Portuguese, and African ancestry were documented to have also participated. The participants were off all ages, but the majority of the documented participants was under the age of forty. Sixteen participants were teenagers, and only nine men were above the age of forty. Many of the Boston Tea Party participants fled Boston immediately after the destruction of the tea to avoid arrest. Thousands witnessed the event, and the implication and impact of this action were enormous ultimately leading to the start of the American Revolution.
