Marengo, McHenry Co., IL, USA, MARENGO – Zackary "Zack" Zabel, 30, of Marengo died unexpectedly at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.
He was born May 21, 1983, in Waupaca, Wis., to Kevin Zabel and Heidi Houghton. He enjoyed football, fishing, nature and the outdoors, Frisbee golf, music and playing drums. He had a passion for life and saw the good in everything. His family was very important to him, especially his son, Alijah.
He is survived by his son, Alijah; mother, Heidi Houghton; father, Kevin (Tammie) Zabel; sisters, Alysia Zabel, Vanessa Schneider, Hilary, Kalli and Amanda; and maternal grandparents, Doug and Judy Houghton.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
A celebration of life will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for the care of Alijah.
