Porterville, CA, USA, Loretta Dee Poteet (1936 - 2010) On November 5, 2010 at 10:00 pm, Mom passed away with her family by her side after a long illness.
Dee was born September 17, 1936 in Oakland, California and was raised on the Diaz Ranch by her grandparents Anna Rose Ryan-Diaz and Ed Diaz. There were many stories of her on her horse "Cricket" with her pet squirrel "Rudy" on her shoulder. She was a proud Canterbelle while growing up.
In 1958 she married her husband Bob Poteet. Together they raced go carts and later stock cars when Dad was president of Rocky Hill Racing Assoc, and Mom was his secretary. In 1965 she began working for Jostens, inc. and worked there until their doors closed in 1997. She always considered them family. Until the beginning of her illness Mom volunteered as a foster grandparent at Porterville Developmental Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years Bob Poteet, her mother Irene "Babe" Houghton, a brother Randall Houghton, her aunt Olive Rapoza and uncle Stanley Diaz. She is survived by her son Steve Poteet of Hanford, daughter Anna Poteet, brother Randy Houghton both of Porterville. Brothers; Robert Houghton of Idaho and Edward Addington of Washington, a sister Arlene Standton of Lancaster, 3 grandchildren; Angell Anthony Rios, Anndrea Gabinete and Sheena Gabinete all of Porterville, 5 great grandchildren; Jordan Fuentes, Frankie Ledesma, Meriah Gonzalez, Zachary Longoria and Joslyn Quails all of Porterville. Thanks friends and family, Dee will be laid to rest on Tuesdays, November 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
