Elmira, NY, USA, Jack F. Houghton, 73, of Gaithersburg, Maryland died of respiratory failure Oct. 25, 2010, in Casey House, Rockville, Maryland. Born March 15, 1937, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late John Houghton and Fredda Gryska. Jack grew up and went to school in Elmira. He was the husband of Martha Houghton for 28 years. Mr. Houghton was a 1955 graduate of Elmira Free Academy and held a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He worked for Fairchild Industries, the Montgomery Co. Board of Education and the Montgomery County government. Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Lynne Lewis of Rockville, MD; one sister, Judith Gryska Ott of Greenbelt, MD; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Houghton. Funeral services and burial were private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Casey House Hospice of Montgomery County, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20855. DeVol Funeral Home, Gaithersburg, handled arrangements.
