Douglas Virgil Houghton, age 70, of Nixa, passed away Friday, June 18, 2004. He was born April 17, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Delore (Scollon) Houghton. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On June 9, 1956, he and Judith A. Lowe were united in marriage. Mr. Houghton was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Ozark, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a Veterans of Foreign Wars member. Survivors include his wife, Judith; six children, Douglas M. Houghton and his wife, Linda, Ames, Iowa, Ann Salucka and her husband, Ray, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David Houghton and his wife, Lorie, Clearwater, Fla., Stephen Houghton and his wife, Sara, Round Rock, Texas, Amy Drost and her husband, Jeff, St. Joseph, Mo., and D. Jason Houghton, Atlanta, Ga; fourteen grandchildren; and siblings, Donald Houghton, Virginia Santoro, Theresa Ventura and Carl Phelps. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, in St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, Ozark, with Father Paul McLoughlin officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
