Delore E. Houghton Phelps,81, a resident of Crestview Acres Nursing Home, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1997, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after an extended illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by the Rev. Phillip Gibbs. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at Stewart Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary begins at 7 p.m.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas Houghton of Indianola, Donald Houghton of Cedar Rapids and Carl Phelps of Carmichael, Calif; two daughters, Virginia Santoro of Agurro Hills, Calif., and Theresa Ventura of La Jolla, Calif; a brother, Cleatus Scollon of Canoga Park, Calif; and two sisters, Audrey Arron of Canoga Park, Calif., and Lavonne McMahon of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Delore was born July 23, 1915, in Van Horne, to Francis and Evelyn Barron Scollon. She married Virgil Houghton. After his death she married Van Buren Phelps in June 1949. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion.

Delore will be missed by her family and all the lives she touched. God bless you Delore and may God be with you.
