Charles C Houghton, cousin of Epaphroditus and Charles Houghton, husband of Rhoda Bryan: CJV - have assumed these are the same person; Beverly Cantrill: They were both born in Vermont. They both were from Camden, NY. (Pioneer History of Camden New York says Rhoda Bryan married Charles Houghton, the Bryans living in Camden) Also the census said Charles was married, although Rhoda was in the same census living in Kirkland with Mary and Theodore Lambert. Do you think Charles Houghton (1801?) married to Rhoda Bryan in Camden, New York and Charles Houghton, son of Shevah Houghton born 1801 Guilford, Vermont, could be the same person? In Pioneer History of Camden Charles (married to Rhoda) was listed as Charles C in his business dealing with his cousin Epaphroditus Houghton. Shevah was in the 1820 and 1830 census in Camden. Also looking at the microfilm of the Vermont vital records, Charles the son of Shevah was listed in Guilford, but at the bottom it says he was born in Sutton, Mass.
CJV: This Charles Houghton disappears from records around 1840; wife Rhoda is alone after this; Charles C Houghton is alive in 1855 census; possibilities include 1st Charles dying after 1840; or that they separated
