Deceased Name: Ralph A. Houghton Served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps Ralph A. Houghton, 82, the eighth-generation resident of Wood Hill Road in Bow, died the morning of Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Harris Hill Center in Concord.
He was born in Concord on Feb. 8, 1925, the son of Ralph A. and Elsie (Colby) Houghton. He attended Concord schools and graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1942.
Mr. Houghton was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
After serving in the military, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for more than 30 years.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Concord.
Mr. Houghton is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (Kirby) Houghton of Bow; a son, Larry Houghton and his wife, Darlene, both of Bow; a daughter, Kathy Houghton of Meredith; and a sister, Priscilla Chickering of Pembroke. One grandson, two great-grandchildren, nephews and a niece also survive him.
Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St. in Concord.
A celebration of his life will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 80 Clinton St. in Concord.
Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery in Bow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 80 Clinton St., Concord 03301.
Bennett Funeral Home in Concord is in charge of the arrangements.

CHEBEAGUE ISLAND -- Winthrop (Wink) Palmer Houghton Jr., 53, of Chebeague Island, died at home after a long illness.
Wink was born on Sept. 17, 1958, in Concord, N.H., and grew up in Biddeford.
He graduated from Biddeford High School in 1976. He studied Environmental Studies at the University of Maine in Orono. He received a degree from SMVTI in Building Trades in 1980. He also went through the NOLS, National Outdoors Leadership School low impact ice climbing in the Cascades. He was self-employed as a carpenter in Shapleigh, and Chebeague Island. For the past sixteen years has been a lobsterman on Chebeague.
Wink is survived by his wife Patricia; his daughter Danielle Rideout, her husband Shawn, and his granddaughter Alexandria; his son, David Rich; his parents, Ruth and Winthrop Houghton Sr; his brother, Theodore Houghton and a niece, Rebecca Pellerin, her husband Pete, and their daughter Juliette; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his adoptive family, Chris, Frankie, Justin and Zach Doughty.
Wink loved fishing, lobstering, carpentry, music and nature. He loved to chat and had a whimsical sense of humor. He was kind and generous and always there to give a helping hand. He loved blue grass music and the Grateful Dead.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the Chebeague Community for all their love, compassion and support.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Chebeague United Methodist Church, at 1 p.m.
