Basil J. Houghton, 76, of 2914 County Route 26, died Thursday evening at his home.

Mr. Houghton was the owner and operator of Houghton Farm Supply, Pierrepont Manor, retiring in 1982.

Born Dec. 12, 1920, in Parish, son of Allen P. and Mae Yager Houghton, he was a Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in the 48th Fighter Squad in Fugi, Italy. He was discharged at the rank of lieutenant.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Ruth Bean; a daughter, Deborah Harvey, Hemlock; a son, Allen, Lacona; two brothers, Walter, Winter Haven, Fla., and Harold, Forestport; four sisters, Reba Herrick, Davenport, Fla., Beulah Donovan, Sarasota, Fla., Evelyn LaForce, Oswego, and Alma Bubb, Leesburg, Fla., three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Harter Funeral Home, Parish. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the Oswego County Unit of the American Cancer Society, Parish United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice.⁴

Asbury Park, NJ, USA, JOHN O. HOUGHTON LAVALLETTE — John 0. Houghton, a retired policeman, died Saturday at Point Pleasant Hospital. He was 67 and lived on Coronado Road, Monterey Beach. He was bom in Brooklyn and lived in Rutherford before moving here 13 years ago. Mr. Houghton was a member of the Rutherford Police Department before retiring.
Surviving are his wife. Evelyn; two sons. John Jr., Rutherford, and Ronald, Piscataway Township; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Egan. Missouri, and Mrs. Carol Veltri, Sussex. and 13 grandchildren.
