William Houghton that lived in our home was a dentist, his office was in the home. We see signs that perhaps one of the rooms was
an office (Bolts in the floor for a chair, etc.) He also owned the first vehicle in town, First I heard Surrey, but intend on finding out
about that as well. He had cousins that moved homes for a living, and actually moved a structure that was in back of the house and attached it to the house. We found a ledger book of his signed hidden in the upstairs wall when my husband went to insulate. He was extremely frugal, but spent $8.00 on boots! That's a lot for that time. He shopped at the general store (not the Cracker Barrel one) that is still in Bolton on Wilder Road, it is now a private residence, but still they keep the store sign and remnants.¹
