A celebration of the life of Doris Elizabeth Houghton, 85, of La Junta, will be held at 2 p.m. on March 26 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in La Junta.

Mrs. Houghton died March 19, 2009.

She was born June 24, 1923 in La Junta to Otis and Irene Ticen. She was a lifelong resident of La Junta and was involved in city government through her work as the City Clerk and Director of Finance for the city of La Junta. She was also active in the Episcopal Church as the church treasurer for over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Tedi Houghton Hill of Colorado Springs and Elizabeth Houghton Carter of Billings, Mont., son Charles T. Houghton of Colorado Springs; grandchildren Nichole Hill Johnson of Vail, Jason Hill of Vail, Holli Houghton Coulman of Carlsbad, Calif., William Reese Houghton of Colorado Springs, Bonnie Bear Don't Walk of Billings, Mont., Felicia Houghton of Billings, Mont., Caitlyn Houghton of Colorado Springs and great-grandson Charlie Bear Don't Walk of Billings, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles I. Houghton and her daughter, Virginia K. Houghton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center Nursing Care Center or the Arkansas Valley Hospice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Romero Funeral Home and Grooms Crematory.
