He was born in Troy, Mich, and came to this area in 1965 from Lansing, Mich Hewasa member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape Coral, Stoney Creek Lodge F & A M Rochester, Mich., Cape Coral Civic Assn, A A R P and Former Kiwanian of Cape Coral. He was a farmer in Troy, Mich, for 30 years and proprietor of Farm Implement Businnessin St. Johns, Mich, for lOyears, then retired and moved to Lansing, Mich.
Survivors include his wife Blanche R. Houghten of Fort Myers, five sons, Herbert E Houghten, St Johns, Mich, Fred D Houghten, Rochester, Mich, Vern L Houghten, Frankenmuth, Mich., Glenn H Houghten, Elk Rapid, Mich, and Elmer M. Houghten, Royal Oak, Mich, eighteen grandchildren, twenty six great grand children
