She came here from her native Chesterfield, Mass., after retiring after 30 years as a schoolteacher in the Northampton (Mass.) and Chesterfield area. She was a member of Chesterfield Congregational Church and founder of the Dorcas Society. She also belonged to Chesterfield Historical Society. Survivors include a son, Frank, East Granby; two stepsons, Allen Houghton, Spokane, Wash., and Richard Houghton, Rochester, N.Y; and two grandchildren. Vincent Funeral Home, Simsbury, Conn.

Richard Wentworth Houghton, 67, died Monday in Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He formerly owned a business specializing in swimming pools and home improvements in Springfield, Mass. Born in Boston, he graduated from the former Williamsburg High School in 1952 and the University of Massachusetts in 1956. He was an Army veteran, he served as an operating room specialist with the 128th Evacuation Hospital in Germany, and on reserve duty with the 409th Field Hospital in Springfield. He was a member of the Waterloo Methodist Church, member of the choir and participated in Walk to Emmaus. He was a member of the Eaton Birding Society and the YMCA, both of Geneva. He leaves a son, Richard Jr. of Monson, Mass; two daughters, Heather Houghton and Alison Houghton, both of East Longmeadow, Mass; two brothers, Frank of Granby, Conn., and Alan of Spokane, Wash; his companion, Debra Anderson of Waterloo; and eight grandchildren. His former wife, Maureen Merriman Houghton, died in 1994. The funeral will be Saturday morning at the church, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery. McGuigan Funeral Home in Geneva is in charge and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Casowasco, Casowasco Conference Center, 158 Casowasco Drive, Moravia, NY 13118.³
