In 1900 she was living with her grandparents Gordrum and Tabitha Davis in Ward 2, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana.2
She and her husband Henry are listed in Ward 1, Catahoula Parish, in the 1910 and 1920 censuses.1,9 She was working as a schoolteacher in 1910.

She and her husband Henry are listed in Ward 1, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, in the 1930 census, along with Henry's daughter Catherine from his first marriage, and a nephew, Hal McGee.7 Sometime before 1935, after her husband's death, she moved in with her mother-in-law Mittie Bruce, and is listed with her in Catahoula Parish in the 1940 census.9 In 1950 she was living with her parents in Catahoula Parish.10

In 1930 she and her first husband John are listed in DeQuincy, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, along with their daughter Helaine and her mother Ruby Hamilton.11 John is again listed in DeQuincy in 1940, as a lodger with the family of John Cutrer. He's listed as married, but with his spouse not present.12 Pansy is listed as divorced in 1940, and she and their children Helane and John were living with Sue Farrior in Ward 3, Calcasieu Parish.13 She was then working as a musician at a dance school, no doubt run by Sue Farrior, who is listed as a dance teacher in the census, and Pansy is listed as her partner.13 She later worked as secretary to the Dean of Music at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Nueces Co., Texas, retiring in 1972.10

She served in the Womens' Army Corps, 3812th Service Co., during World War II, enlisting as a private on 19 February 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana.10,11 On 18 March she left for basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.12 She served at the induction station in New Orleans for 16 months13, and was discharged as a corporal on 22 September 1945.11
She and her second husband John are listed in DeQuincy, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, in the 1950 census.14
In July 1951 she and her husband John bought 57 acres of farmland near DeQuincy, and over the next four years cleared the land for grazing cattle and growing hay, and repaired and restored their home there. Their progress was slowed by health issues; he had a heart attack, and she underwent a major operation.15
She worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in DeQuincy starting in 1926, and planned to return to her job there as car distributor after recovering from her operation.15

In April 1950, seven months after her marriage to George Bruce, she was enumerated on her own in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Arkansas, while George was enumerated in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.7,8
She was a matron (one who assists female passengers) for the Missouri Pacific Railroad at Union Station in Little Rock.6,2
