Dan was lving at Asquith when he enlisted in 1916. About 6 weeks later, he was discharged as unlikely to become an efficient soldier. I have been unable to locate his Ontario birth registration, but many births were not registred.1
Dan McLaughlin of Asquith began military service on 12 February 1916 at the age of 40 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, joining the 90th Battalion, Winnipeg Rifles. He was an unmarried laborer/lumberman who had once been a cook for the 58th Milita. He was described as being 5' 4" with a fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He was assigned regimental number 186360.1 Pte. Dan McLaughlin ended his military service on 31 March 1916 being classified as "unlikely to become an efficient soldier." He was likely discharged in Winnipeg, although this is not noted in his service file..
