Marriage of Clive Renwick
Clive Renwick, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Renwick of Mayfield, was married on Thursday morning to Miss Minnie Benson of Rollo, at the parsonage in that town. The wedding was private, with Miss Benson, sister of the bride, attending. They left for Chicago and other places for a brief honeymoon and will then be at home at the home farm in Mayfield. Clive has many friends who will wish them well in this new relation.7

The following newspaper article appeared in the Sycamore, Illinois True Republican 19 October 1962 :
Springs Surprise Party on Parents Sunday Afternoon
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Renwick pleasantly and successfully supervised a very delightful surprise open house gathering for immediate relatives Sunday afternoon at their rural home in Clare, in celebration of the 45th wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. CIive Renwick, very well known and very well liked residents of Clare area for many years, who now reside in Sycamore. They have one granddaughter, Janet Renwick.
Over 50 family members were present to honor Mr. and Mrs. Renwick and to wish them well, coming from Dixon, Aurora , Glen Ellyn, Earlville, Lee, Shabbona, Kirkland, Huntley and Sycamore. Among those in attendance was the elderly mother of Clive Renwick, Mrs. R. R. Renwick of Sycamore, who is 91 years old.
The afternoon was spent in a pleasant social manner, and was concluded with the serving of a delicious buffet lunch from a table beautifully appointed in sapphire blue color motif. Enhancing the table setting was the large, special white wedding cake having green ornamentation. It was cut by Mrs. George McGraham of Dixon, sister of the bride of 45 years ago. Another sister, Mrs. John Firkins of Kirkand, poured coffee; and their niece, Mrs. Donald Firkins of Sycamore, served the punch. The honored couple was well remembered with lovely cards and gifts.
Mr. Renwick and the former Minnie Benson were married in Rollo Oct. 11, 1917. They farmed on the Renwick homestead in Clare until retiring in March of 1961 and moving to Sycamore to make their home.
It is the wish of their hosts of friends and family members that they will have many more happy anniversaries.1

The following newspaper article appeared in the DeKalb, Illinois Daily Chronicle 31 December 1896 :
What Leap Year Has Done
About a year ago the CHRONICLE published a list of leap year elegibles and many of the young men in the list have succumbed ot the pleadings of the fairer sex and during the year have become benedicts. The following is a list of what cupid with his bow and arrow and the young woman wiht her "Will-you-be-mine" questions has accomplished in matrimonial matters and the unions they are responsible for:
...Chas. Sagle and Anna Riddell...

All these young men started out at the beginning of '96 with a strong determination that they would not allow the hypnotic powers of any young lady have such an effect upon them that they would procure a license but their failures to carry out this determination are fully proven by the simple facts of the case.

There are, however, many marketable men who have stood the assults bravely and we think it safe to say will manage matters to suit themselves this year. They evidently had not been taught by their mother;s to wait until they were asked and will take charge of the offensive rather than the defensive part of the operations during the year 1897.

These statements with more truth than poetry are what some of them have already begun to do:
J. J. Helming who deals in clothing.
Down Sixth street is often seen roving...

Frank Riddell goes to Chicago each day,
But what happens in there we cannot say...4
